These alloys such as EZ(P) 0, EZ(AP) 5, EZ(AP) 15 are excellent for joining copper to copper where the phosphorus content of the copper phosphorous silver brazing alloys react with the copper of the base metal in such a way that the filler metals becomes “self-fluxing”. A flux is required when joining brass or bronze. Importantly, these alloys should not be used on ferrous, nickel based or copper nickel alloys with more of 10% nickel, in order to avoid premature failure of the joint due to the formation of brittle intermetallic phrases.
